Volcane Spins

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Volcane Spins is one of those games that sounds silly on paper and then eats a full commute before you notice. You guide a little ember along a set of circular platforms that rotate at different speeds, and your only job is to tap at the right moment to hop to the next ring before the lava creeps up. It's pure reflex, but the level design is sneaky-clever about how it layers the spinning speeds.

Controls are a single tap, which is exactly right for a phone. The whole thing lives or dies on readability, and here it's great — the color of each ring tells you how fast it's turning, so after a few rounds you stop thinking in platforms and start thinking in rhythm. The later stages add rings that reverse direction mid-spin, and that's where it genuinely got me laughing out loud at my own mistakes.

What surprised me is how forgiving the restart loop feels. There's no stamina, no waiting — you fail, you tap, you're back in under a second. That tight loop is the real reason it's sticky. I kept telling myself one more ring and then it was twenty minutes later.
