The mobile RPGs that respect your time
There's a quiet war in mobile RPGs between games that want you to play and games that want you to wait. The best ones I've reviewed this year fall firmly in the first camp, and it changes everything about how they feel after week two.
Ashvale Chronicle is my current example of doing it right. You level through quests and story beats, not through a daily login that punishes you for having a life. When I came back after skipping two days, nothing had decayed and nobody was nagging me. That's rarer than it should be.
The warning sign is always stamina. The moment a game caps how much you're allowed to enjoy it per day, the story stops being the point. I've abandoned genuinely good RPGs purely because they rationed themselves away from me.
If you're shopping for a mobile RPG, check the progression before the combat. Ask whether it respects an hour of your evening. The ones that do are the ones you'll still be playing in a month.
